In 2010, the latest year available, that number was 16.8 million, 17.0 percent of full-time, full-year workers (estimated from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.gov\/data\/tables\/time-series\/demo\/income-poverty\/cps-pinc\/pinc-05.html\">Current Population Survey, Bur. of the\u00a0 Census, 9\/2011).<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>In August 2012, the latest month available, the number of job openings was 3.6\u00a0million<\/b>,\u00a0&#8220;essentially unchanged from July. The number of openings was little changed in all industries except accommodation and food services, where the number decreased. The number of openings was also little changed in all four regions in August.
