What will the future look like? Who gets to decide?
We’re living through extremely difficult and uncertain times. The issues we now face are the predictable culmination of unrestricted neoliberalism, imperialism, corporate greed and impunity, the steady erosion of investment in public welfare, and the entrenchment of power and privilege along class lines: one set of standards, opportunities and living conditions for the wealthy; and an entirely different set of standards, opportunities and conditions for everybody else.
We at the Connecticut Jobs and Human Rights Task Force and the National Jobs for All Network (NJFAN) envision a world in which ALL people are guaranteed access to good, living wage jobs that do more than satisfy our basic human needs: a world in which ALL people are free to actualize their innate potential, in which no one is forced to live in financial precarity. We envision a world in which human worth is not measured in material wealth, and everybody’s right to self-determination is respected.
There is no reason why the world we inhabit should not be a just and equitable one!
